John Ball Zoo Rebrand
My second Branding 1 project: local business re-brand. I chose to redesign John Ball Zoo, the humble family-time destination of choice located on the west side of downtown Grand Rapids. After a week or so of research and "case study" explorations while wandering the zoo and internet, we finally began work on our new logo ideas. I attempted to engage younger audiences and families with a more colourful brand mark, aiming to inspire lightheartedness, education and exploration. The zoo's main goal is to teach families about the importance of conservation and education, while encouraging continued learning. The old brand mark is admirable in it's simplicity and representation of diversity and (obviously) the subject of its service, but lacks energy. This project (represented as a brand book), presents the research and dissection of the current identity and my re-brand examples.
